Late Night Snack

This piece began as an Inktober prompt, where the only concept was a man cooking his own face. As I continued developing the world of Thanatos, the illustration found a new meaning and became one of the recurring nightmares experienced by the story's protagonist.

Rather than depicting a literal event, the scene represents trauma manifesting through impossible imagery. After witnessing the slow mental and physical collapse of his research partner, the protagonist is haunted by distorted visions that blur the line between memory and nightmare.

For this project, I wanted to show the complete creative process—from the original Inktober sketch to the finished illustration—to illustrate how a simple prompt evolved into a narrative piece within a larger horror universe.

I did a better job with the color to improve the atmosphere of the scene.

After years I resumed the design to give it a more professional render, but preserving the original style
